Craft Projects from Glass Jars

pot rack by chonlahan on HGTV Message boards.

This window was turned into a pot rack by chonlahan on HGTV Message boards. What a great idea.

She has this advise about this project. " It was a pretty simple project. I used large hooks to attach the chain and large hooks to hold the pots and pans. I think the most important thing is choosing a sturdy window and how you secure it to the ceiling. It could be quite heavy and you need to choose ceiling anchors and chain appropriate to the weight of your pans. I decorated on top of mine with ivy, grapevine wreath and a metal bowl of silk roses. I wouldn't use anything very heavy on top of the glass.

Window Bed Canopy-by Judy Hill

I found this beautiful bed canopy at Judy Hill's last home sale
It looks like she took a long window or door, suspended it from the ceiling
then she added lace and decorated it for the Holidays.

If you've got the right window, and are careful when hanging it go drill into the studs, you'll have a great canopy for your bed in no time. You can see more of Judy Hill's designs on her web site here.

Old Luggage as a Planter

Old Luggage as a Planter or seasonal display This pic came from the Junkwarehouse Be sure to visit their site for more great ideas.

Sandysez from the HGTV message board made this great luggage stool:

"Now I'm on the search for more vintage suitcases! Picked this one up for $5.00, cleaned it up, painted the leather trim and decoupaged old seed packets and lace on it. The legs are from an old footstool I bought this summer. I cut a piece of MDF for the bottom and screwed thru from inside to attach the legs. Great for magazine storage!!"
Thanks Sandy for a great project.

Dimentional Art-by Margo

This project is a hodge podge of different items. I took someold weathered wood, added these ring things that I think are meant for clay pots. Added some old hinges to hang it by. Inside the rings, I've placed cones, bed springs, and old funnels. It doesn't really have any great purpose, but could be used for dried flowers or some other decorative item. I guess you'd call this a dimentional art piece. Don't try to put water in any of those containers though :)

old shoe

Becky of beyond the picket fence

did this great project with an old shoe form. She Writes: "I found an old board that the shoe form fit on nicely. I used E6000 glue and glued it in place first. When that was dry, I screwed a screw from the bottom of the board up into the back part of the shoe form. I could not screw into the front part of the shoe form because it was so narrow or thin, but it was secure with the glue. I screwed the memo clip into the back part of the form. You need to use a washer because the clip handle hole is big. And then I coated the whole thing with some polyacrylic ( the picture I have was taken before I coated it, so it looked a little better afterwards). If the shoe from didn't have holes in the front for pens and pencils, I am sure you could drill holes for that purpose."

Luggage Pocket wall organizer pocket

This project was adapted from one I saw on the HGTV T2T message board, posted by Sharon. I took an old luggage pocket, and an old Frame and some scrap wood. Mounted the pocket onto the wood and then added various embelishments. It makes a great place to display old photo's, cards, mail etc. You could also mount the pocket on an old drawer front, or even a shutter.

China Cup Organizer - by Margo

Make a row of them or just a single. Great as a key/change/celphone drop by the door.
This is a really fun and unique project. You'll need a wet saw to do this one. For a complete detailed tutorial on this project for only $8.00.

Old Bed Spring Candle Holder-by Margo:

I found these unusually shaped springs in this bed that I took apart. They just screamed to be made into candle holders.
I added a washer in between the tight spring area in the center, and a little glue to keep it in place, and the candle just sits on it.

Spring Lights, by Margo

For this project, simply take some old cone shaped bed springs, wire them to the sides of a bucket or planter. Slip in a glass votive holder and a candle and you can light up your patio in a flash.

God Bless America

Now I lay me down to sleep, one less terrorist this world does keep.
With all my heart I give my thanks, to those in uniform regardless of ranks.
You serve our country and serve it well, with humble hearts your stories tell.
So as I rest my weary eyes, while freedom rings our flag still flies.
You give your all, do what you must...with God we live and God we trust.
